Dear Father

Dear Father

He whom I never saw much growing up
He whom I always longed for
and sought his protection
Father’s foundation was visible but not solid
The love of a father shows in his daughter’s eyes

It has been a journey so far
Fatherhood has no boundaries
The way you held him to your arm at birth
But you were not present for me
A child’s greatest blessing

In all of the mystery
We still love you
The good book command us to obey you
So that we can have long life

Ignorance is all we saw
It’s not an African thing
As fathers, you protect your daughters too
We are humans

My gift to you today is honesty
and the truth
Because we sincerely love you
and pray for change
It is never too late
Happy Father’s Day!
